Setting the Scene in Jamaica Plain

Jamaica Plain, a vibrant neighborhood in Boston, holds a special place in our hearts as it is where Javi and I had our first date, fell madly in love, and created countless memories. It’s no wonder that Gabby and Ian were drawn to this incredible neighborhood and its unique charm. The significance of the venue, the rich history of The Loring Greenough House, made it the perfect choice for their special day. It’s also one of Javi & I’s all-time favorite wedding venues ever!! Just look at this beautiful venue, how could you not fall in love?!

Supporting Local Businesses

Gabby and Ian’s commitment to their community shines through their choice of local businesses to be part of their wedding celebration. Their favorite restaurant, Brassica, provided the mouthwatering catering, highlighting the delicious flavors of Jamaica Plain. And to add an extra dash of excitement, they even surprised their guests with a food truck because The Loring Greenough House is just that cool. Supporting local businesses and embracing the neighborhood’s diversity and culinary richness truly made their wedding a celebration of community. They also chose to work with one of our preferred vendors Ashley Lynn for Planning and we adore her. It was extra special for us because Jamaica Plain is our community and it was so awesome to work with other creatives and talents from our own neighborhood.

Getting Ready and Swooning Over the Details

To add an intimate touch to their day, Gabby visited a local salon in Jamaica Plain to have her hair done, while both she and Ian prepared for the day at their cozy apartment. The anticipation grew as they walked together to The Loring Greenough House, soaking in every moment of their day. And let’s not forget about the stunning details that had us swooning! Tent season created the perfect atmosphere, and the florals were absolutely flawless. The drinks were even named after Gabby and Ian’s beloved cats, adding a personalized touch like no other. The vibes were simply immaculate.

Shared Interests and Historic Preservation

Gabby, Ian, and ourselves share a deep passion for historic preservation. Both Gabby and Ian work for the city of Boston and are dedicated to preserving the city’s rich history. As a delightful bonus, Gabby had the honor of selecting the wallpaper for the LGH bridal suite during its preservation. Talk about insider perks! Their love for history couldn’t go unnoticed, and it became an integral part of their wedding ceremony. They even incorporated a reading about the house, educating and enchanting their guests with its storied past.

Personal Touches and Unconventional Choices

As photographers, we have heard many vows but we were taken aback by Gabby and Ian’s playful spirit and heartfelt vows. Instead of the traditional route, they decided to do a coin toss to determine who would read their vows first. Gabby, being the bold and fearless woman she is, went first, leaving us all in awe. It was a beautiful, emotional moment that truly captured their love and authenticity. And when it came to the first dance, they decided to forgo it altogether. Instead, they simply wanted to enjoy dinner and spend quality time with their loved ones. Their focus on what truly mattered – being present with their people – warmed our hearts.

Gabby and Ian’s wedding was a perfect blend of community, history, and love. As photographers who thrive on not-so-traditional weddings, their day felt like a dream come true for us. From the enchanting tent season ambiance, the flawless florals, and the delicious food, every detail painted a picture of their love story set against the backdrop of Jamaica Plain. We are forever grateful to have been part of their special day and to have witnessed their pure love and dedication to their community.

Gabby and Ian’s wedding was captured beautifully on film and digital, but we couldn’t resist the opportunity to bring their love story to life using a variety of film stocks. Each film choice was carefully selected to complement the unique atmosphere of their day and to capture the essence that filled the air. We used several rolls of TMax 3200, TMax 400, Portra 400, Portra 800 for the big day. By using these different rolls of film we were able to infuse Gabby and Ian’s wedding images with an extra touch of magic!
