What’s In Our Styling Trunk?

A lot of wedding photographers carry a styling case around with them to their weddings and elopements. Some chose their case based on functionality, others for style… some for both.

We sourced our trunk from our local Everything Free Neighborhood Group. One of our neighbors was giving away this incredible vintage suitcase and we had a vision for this thing. We wanted to use it as our typing case for all of our goodies and tickets for our flat lays. So we wanted to take you all on an insider tour of what is in our styling trunk 🙂

And for all of you photographers out there reading this we are also going to show you how we built our trunk. Tips and tricks on our must-haves and nice-to-haves. Lastly lots of links to the shops that we recommend!

I have sourced my boxes and ribbons from all over but most are from stylingarchives, EvermoreStyled, and TheStylingSource.

We like to thrift a lot of our trays and dishes, but for those looking to start off their collection a lot of the stores listed at the bottom of this blog have various dishes and trays! I would recommend keeping an eye out on TheStylingSource for these though! Whenever they get new stuff in I always check it out. The owner, Dana, is extremely knowledgeable about flat lays and I love following her on social media. I always feel like I’m learning something from her posts.

While styling mats / decorative papers aren’t essential to a styling kit in my opinion… I do think that they elevate your game, especially when a wedding location doesn’t always have the most attractive surroundings if you catch my drift.

We have a few options that we like to choose from in our selection. We have our velvet mats, linen mats, and then some of the artisan papers that we use for unique occasions.

Now of course we have other things in our styling trunk like our handy dandy lint rollers, double-sided sticky dots, pins, double-sided tape, clothes pins, and various hangers.
