Today we are digging into a not-so-basic branding session for one of my besties, Tori! Tori is the owner and mastermind behind Berry Bloom Co., a floral company with a focus on non-traditional design and flowers for all. Plus, her florals are downright breathtaking. She is a Queer and POC business which we are always proud to support and collaborate with businesses like theirs. Tori is literally too good for this earth! We worked on a stunning styled shoot turned vow renewal together (you should check that out here too) and instantly connected. Tori and I became fast friends and both swear we will be lifelong friends. It’s just one of those friendships where you just know. When we were in San Diego for the vow renewal, we also planned this branding shoot for them that we are obsessed with!

Tori’s Journey – From Scientist to Florist

I love Tori’s story because they really just fell into the world of florals after leaving her associate scientist job back in 2020. Tori already had a love for flowers from working with her grandma in her garden growing up, but, during a trip to L.A. for her cousin’s wedding her love was reignited! They headed to the flower market to see what they could DIY with their budget for her cousin’s intimate backyard wedding. With no insider knowledge of the industry and her little knowledge of what was in season, they put together a three-floral display on an arch her brother had built for the event. The florals turned out even better than she could have imagined and her cousin was in love too. Tori had so much fun working with their hands and creating immediately got them in a flow state. After that, Tori was hooked!

The Birth Of Berry Floral Co.

With their newfound love for flowers, Tori dove headfirst into the world of floristry when they came home from L.A. They gained valuable experience by working with a local wedding florist in San Diego and running their own market pop-up on weekends. Berry Blooms started officially in June 2022, but if you count Tori’s early learning stage, they have been a florist for three years now!

Tori’s Unique Floral Creations

As I’m sure you have been able to tell from these photos, Tori creates unique, colorful, and fun creations with all of their flowers. She prides herself on intentionally curating florals with thoughtful designs that show off each couple’s personality! They love to use locally sourced florals when possible and value sustainable designs. Tori’s Branding Photos

I could talk about my love for Tori all day but, back to the actual branding photos! Just like Tori, we rarely go the traditional route when it comes to our photography, and we created a super rad branding shoot for them. We headed out to Sunset Cliffs in San Diego to set up our session out on hills just a few minutes from the water. We took a creative and unconventional approach to Tori’s branding shoot, using a mirror and vibrant color palettes for the floral pieces to capture Tori’s distinct style. Tori’s flowers popped so well off the mute background and looked insane on her website. The florals and sky really shined through in these photographs. You know when Tori told us she was down for film photography we had to go all out! We shot all her images on film and got some super cute Polaroids for her too! We are all so happy with how this branding shoot turned out even better than we imagined it.

We are all so happy with how this branding shoot turned out even better than we imagined it. But even more so, I am thankful that Tori and I could connect from across the country and collaborate on projects that turned us into besties for life.
