Today, we are sharing Justin and Kiersten’s engagement shoot – they made a spontaneous decision to schedule an engagement session with us just a week before hand and we are so excited with how these film shots turned out!  You can easily capture beautiful, engagement photos with digital photography, but there’s something undeniably magical about shooting on film. The softness, the colors, and the vintage feel – all contribute to a unique and nostalgic feeling. In this blog post, we’ll take you through a Summer engagement session that occurred at the couple’s Cape Cod home, captured on film.

Justin & Kiersten’s Love Story

Ten years ago, Justin and Kiersten started dating. But rather than thinking about the future in a traditional way (like marriage), Kiersten had other plans for their relationship. Kiersten promised Justin she would never ask him to propose but she did want one thing, and that was a dog! A year into their relationship they got Stevie – their Australian shepherd joined the family and has been their little baby ever since. He was soooo CUTE during this shoot as well!

Their New Home In Cape Cod

Justin and Kiersten made an exciting leap and purchased a stunning house in Cape Cod. Their vision for their new home extended beyond creating a sanctuary for themselves; they wanted it to be a gathering place for friends and family. With its classic New England charm and breathtaking views, the house was an absolute show-stopper! And what better time to enjoy it than during a New England summer?

Now, let’s dive into Kiersten’s unique sense of style. She has an eye for antiques and rare finds from estate sales and antique stores. Collaborating with a designer allowed them to bring their vision to life, creating a space that showcases their personality and tastes. Their style was not the traditional New England Cape vibe. Instead, they infused the space with a mix of vintage and modern elements, creating an atmosphere that feels fresh and unexpected. The result? A home that truly reflects their authentic selves, bursting with character and charm. I would truly die to stay at their home for the Summer. 

The Film Photos

When the time came to actually take the photos, we couldn’t have been more excited after seeing the location. We chose to shoot with Portra 400 film and our trusty Contax G2 camera, which beautifully captures the warm tones and endless golden hour light. To truly capture the essence of Cape Cod in summer, we decided to not only shoot in their home but to get some photos out by the water and the tall grass outside their home. Justin and Kiersten were so incredible in front of the camera. We created a relaxed and intimate atmosphere that allowed them to feel comfortable being playful with one another. We are OBSESSED with the images and hope you are too! Just look at those blue skies!!
