The Wedding Day At Gallery X
It was an especially freezing day in New England… like -40 Fahrenheit wind gusts freezing! Abbey and her wedding party got ready in the cutest historic Airbnb in the heart of Historic Downtown New Bedford. After the sweetest first look between the two, we set off to the wedding venue, Gallery X Inc. This space is an old church converted to an art gallery and honestly I couldn’t have picked a better venue for these two. Max and Abbey had one of their dear friends officiate their ceremony, and Max performed a song during it! It was truly so unique to them!
Not only did we photograph their beautiful celestial-inspired wedding, but we also shot an intimate Super 8 video for them that we are in love with! So much of Abbey & Max’s wedding reminded me of our own and I cried so many times during their wedding day and even during the editing process! We adore you both and it has been an honor getting to know you both through this incredible time of your lives. Thank you so much for trusting us on this special, and freakin freezing day (-40 Fahrenheit wind gusts y’all lol). Okay, I will stop gushing about you two now and I’ll start telling the story of your incredible day.
Max & Abbey’s Super 8 Wedding Film
For those of you who are familiar with Super 8, Super 8 films are an 8mm film shot on a motion picture camera. Javi and I truly believe that this is the best way to capture your wedding day or elopement. The sweet nostalgia of Super 8 truly captures all the emotion and love from your big day. The first film here is our director’s cut and the second is their social media highlight.

It’s All In the Details
For the flat lays, I decided to use my surroundings and used this gorgeous window sill in the Airbnb that Abbey and her wedding party were getting ready in!
Now for a couple of the other details here, Abbey rented, yes you read that correctly from the same place that they purchased their wedding bands from; Marshall’s Jewelers. I just think that it’s really neat that you can just rent stunning jewelry from amazing jewelers. I have personally never heard of such a thing, but I think it should become more common! Can we just talk about Abbey’s jewel-studded ceremony shoes? Show stoppers? I think yes! They are from Betsey Johnson. Now Abbey and Max do change into different shoes later – Converse, of course! They were much comfier dancing the night away with their friends and family in those.
Ok, y’all I’m usually not a fan of fake flowers but I think that Abbey won me over with her fake florals. I was obsessed. These florals from Ling’s Moment were gorgeous and so well made. They photographed so well and honestly, I would highly recommend this company to any couple looking for fake florals on their wedding day!
Getting Ready with Abbey
The makeup artist, Jordyn Klegraefe did a phenomenal job. Abbey rocked a dark lip look and dramatic eyeliner. It is fair to say that I was obsessed. From one gal who did a dramatic eyeliner look on their wedding day to another. Rock on.
Lastly, the AirBnb that Abbey and all of the girls got ready in is called Millie’s. Located in the heart of Historic Downtown New Bedford, within the solid stone Taber Building, circa 1815, is a special place that is close to everything, making it easy to plan your visit. Honestly, my jaw dropped when we walked into this Airbnb. It’s gorgeous and I can’t wait to book it for a trip with my own girlfriends.
Getting Ready with Max
The fellas all got ready at the New Bedford Harbor Hotel and they were all packed into one room in comparison to the ladies who had two floors and several rooms of space haha. Max and his boys all got their suits from The Franklin Rogers Groom Store and they all looked quite dapper! Max’s hair was styled and cut by John Bacon Salon. Max’s mom was there to make sure that the fellas stayed on track and kept them in line. What would we do without moms sometimes?
Abbey & Max’s First Look
Okay so remember when I said that it was a freezing day outside? Well, Max took a little walk in that bellow freezing weather to get to his soon-to-be bride. Talk about toughing it out. Javi (my husband and second shooter) said that Max was walking really fast lol, I can understand why! We love having our couples shoot some Super 8 of each other, we get the sweetest images and footage of candid moments when we do this.
Venue Details
I want to give a huge shout-out to Abbey for making this entire wedding vision come to life. Without her creative direction and skills, none of this would have come together at the end of the day. Abbey DIYed and sourced most of the decor. I was beyond impressed.
Also before I start to dive in I thought I would give a shout-out to Abbey and Max’s awesome venue Gallery X Inc. This space is an old church converted to an art gallery and honestly I couldn’t have picked a better venue for these two. Just like how they are a perfect match for each other the venue was the perfect fit for THEM!
This neon sign really was having its own little moment for the entire wedding. It is made by Lights by Lightkeeper. Abbey’s father was in charge of all of the design for the uplighting. Talking about another creative genius. He really turned these blank cream walls and illuminated them as if it were the night sky. Bravo! BOCCA was the catering company and when I say that this was 10/10 the best wedding food I have ever had… I mean it. Walk don’t run to book them for your wedding.
Abbey walked herself down the aisle like a total badass. She looked absolutely amazing. Max and Abbey had one of their good friends officiate their wedding and they styled him with one heck of a cool bolo tie from Folks On The Edge. Now when Max and Abbey first approached me to document their wedding day they had mentioned that Max was going to perform live during the ceremony. He obviously blew it out of the water, being the musical genius that he is. Abbey and Max decided to do a knot-tying ceremony to quite literally tie the knot.
The Grand Exit
Ok so we originally wanted to do a sparkler exit but not only was it too cold but it was so windy that we couldn’t even light the sparklers so I asked all of the guests to line up and form a little tunnel. We all started to laugh once I asked them to summon their inner high-school musical theater jazz spirit hands. Max and Abbey then ran through the tunnel. You know when you get married on the coldest day of the year you’ve gotta make some sort of exit work haha!
